At Seaside Smiles, we are particularly careful to minimize the exposure of our patients to radiation. With contemporary safeguards, the amount of radiation received in a dental X-ray examination is extremely small. And with the use of the newest digital x-ray technology (requiring a smaller dose of radiation than the standard x-ray films), the risk is practically negligible. This sealant acts as a barrier to food, plaque and acid, thus protecting the decay-prone areas of the teeth.

Knocked Out Permanent Tooth: Find the tooth. Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root portion. You may rinse the tooth but DO NOT clean or handle the tooth unnecessarily. Inspect the tooth for fractures. If it is sound, try to reinsert it in the socket. Have the child hold the tooth in place by biting on a gauze. If you cannot reinsert the tooth, transport the tooth in a cup containing the patient's saliva or milk. The tooth may also be carried in the patient's mouth. The patient must see a dentist IMMEDIATELY! Time is a critical factor in saving the tooth.
