Vaccination
Community Pet Outreach believes that vaccines are the most important steps you can take to keep your pet healthy and happy. Vaccines have allowed pets and humans alike to live longer and healthier lives. Today’s vaccines have undergone elaborate medical research to ensure that they are safe to administer and effective in preventing fatal disease. Our vaccination programs protect your vulnerable puppy or kitten from various infections and diseases, while annual boosters keep the protection going throughout adulthood. Vaccinations protect pets from disease by exposing their body’s immune system to inactive or parts of a type of bacteria or virus. Our doctors will help you decide which vaccines are appropriate for your pet’s risk factors. Proper administration and giving a vaccine at the correct age and time interval is critical for proper protection.
Veterinary Ophthalmology
FVRCP (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) – Rhinotracheitis-A highly contagious respiratory disease characterized by sneezing, running nose, drooling, loss of appetite, fever, eye inflammation, and discharge from both eyes and nose. This is triggered by the common feline herpes virus.
Nutritional Counseling
Symptoms are usually diarrhea and weight loss. The parasites can actually suck so much blood that they cause pale gums from anemia, and black and tarry stools. Young puppies can be so severely affected that they die. Infection can be by ingestion of breast milk from an infected mother, by ingestion of infective eggs, or by skin penetration of infective larvae.

Leptospirosis Treatment
Leptospirosis – Caused by bacteria in the urine of infected animals or people. Wild animals such as rats or raccoons can urinate in puddles, ponds, and other sources, contaminating the water.

DA2PP (Distemper Virus, Adenovirus, and Parvovirus) – Distemper-Attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems; is very contagious; and spread through saliva, urine, or tears from an infected dog. Demodex is a mite that all dogs are exposed to, but only a small percentage of dogs develop skin problems. In young puppies, it usually causes small areas of hair loss especially on the head and front legs. Adult dogs tend to show more generalized symptoms, and usually have more red, itchy skin lesions. Adult dogs that develop Demodex usually have another disease such as hypothyroidism, Cushings, or cancer that suppresses the immune system and allows the Demodex to increase in numbers and cause lesions. It is now recognized that cats have their own species of Demodex, but the disease is much more rare in cats.

In addition, Community Pet Outreach does not perform surgery or anesthetic procedures on any patients with underlying or ongoing health problems. If your pet has epilepsy, seizures, cardiac/heart disease, liver or kidney problems, hypoglycemia, immune disorder, or any other health issues, we are unable to perform surgery or any anesthetic procedure.

Wellness exams are a crucial part of your pet’s preventative care program and how often you can expect to need to bring them in for these will depend on a range of individual factors. These are primarily your pet’s age and current health. There are many reasons for this, but the most obvious is that animals are more likely to be affected by illness at specific stages of their life. For example, the immune systems of young animals are unlikely to be fully developed, and this makes them more at risk of becoming unwell. Similarly, the immune system of an older pet can start to deteriorate and be less effective at fighting off disease. Since certain diseases, such as diabetes, arthritis, kidney disease, thyroid disease, and even cancer are more common amongst older animals, regular wellness exams usually increase in frequency as your pet ages.

The only sure way to prevent unwanted pets is to have them spayed and neutered.
