Modalities used at Summit Peak Physical Therapy include Interferential Electrical Stimulation (IFES), ultra sound (US), cryotherapy (ice packs), and ice massage. IFES and US are forms of treatment used to reduce pain, muscle spasms, and inflammation. Both treatments are relatively painless with most people not feeling anything at all. Cryotherapy helps to reduce inflammation and pain, for example, following treatment of shoulder rotator cuff repair. Ice massage is used for specific areas of the body where direct contact of ice is determined, for example, treating tennis elbow. When coupled with manual therapy and an appropriate exercise protocol these modalities are effective in reducing pain, inflammation, and muscle spasms.

Primary Care
Following a car accident the driver/passengers may receive trauma to various parts of the body. Common injuries we see include stiff neck, low back pain, and whiplash. Some injuries are too acute and cannot be treated early on; however, some injuries should be treated as soon as possible. It begins with a comprehensive evaluation of the musculoskeletal system using subjective review, objective special tests, and manual assessment of surrounding joints which could possibly contribute to pain or loss of motion. Following the examination our physical therapists take time to explain the specific impairments and subsequent treatment plan. Goals are patient driven and monitored throughout the duration of therapy. Initial home exercise program will then be given and closely monitored at each pt visit for modifications according to patient tolerance and progression.

While at Loma Linda, Dr. Moses developed a passion for orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation. He has concentrated his development in the specialty of manual therapy and manipulation to reduce pain and increase range of motion. Dr. Moses successfully completed a 3-year Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in January of 2017 with the prestigious North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). This Fellowship was specialized in the differential diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic musculoskeletal disorders with an emphasis in the spine.
