The Dorchester County Health Department, based in Cambridge, Md., offers a range of services to patients and their families. The organization s cancer screening services include physical examinations, Pap smears, mammograms, and future diagnosis and treatment. Its colorectal cancer screening program provides free examination and screening for colorectal cancer for senior citizens in Dorchester County, Md., who are financially eligible. Individual education and group presentations are available upon request to the general public. The institution s personal care program provides in-home help for individuals who have a valid medical assistance card and need assistance with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding and meal preparation, and ambulation and transfers. Additionally, it offers services to developmentally disabled individuals. The department s communicable disease program provides surveillance for all reportable diseases within Dorchester County.
