Ophthalmology
Dr. Volpe was born and raised in Columbia and after graduating from Dreher High School, attended the College of Charleston before returning home to earn her medical degree from the USC School of Medicine. She then completed a transitional year internship at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, followed by a four-year ophthalmology residency at USC School of Medicine. Dr. Volpe joined Eye Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia, P.A. in 1996 and is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist. She is accepting new patients and welcomes referrals.

Cataract removal (phacoemulsification) is the most common procedure performed on Americans over the age of 65.

Cindy is married to Michael Volpe, has four grown children, a clan of grands, and enjoys “mowing therapy” on their Boykin farm. She is also a voracious reader, habitual walker, and has a heart for Jesus, mission work, and witnessing her patients’ glee after cataract surgery.
Eye Exam
Since our founding in 1941, Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia has maintained a caring atmosphere by treating each patient with personalized attention. Knowledge and technology have changed over the years, but the need for treating patients in a compassionate manner has not. In addition to our highly trained and experienced doctors, our support staff of technicians, insurance experts, and scheduling personnel truly care about our patients. Some of these team members have been with the group for decades and their dedication sets a tone of friendliness and concern. Whether it’s your initial outreach on the phone, complete eye examination, a visit to our optical shop, or scheduling surgery, you will be treated as an individual with unique needs and concerns.

Internal Medicine
Dr. Story is from Lancaster, SC, the son of two ophthalmologists (and the brother of a third—our own Stacy Story). He received his undergraduate degree from Anderson University in Anderson, SC, and his medical doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. While a student there, Caleb met his wife, Hailley Story, who practices Internal Medicine in northeast Columbia. He is a graduate of Prisma Health/USC Ophthalmology, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Story is currently accepting new patients and welcomes your referrals.
