Locs For Life Salon

I scheduled a same day appointment (practically a walk in). I was greeted with a smile. I have waist length small locs and Nikki shampooed, conditioned, groomed and styled my locs beyond my satisfaction in under 3 hours. I love Locs for Life!

Awful experience! Bad attitude. Horrible customer service. Suprise 5% charge at checkout. Stay away.

GREAT PLACE, GOOD VIBES, PROFESSIONAL STYLISTS. I went to Locs For Life Salon to get my locks done, they were so fast I got in and out within a little bit over an hour. First when I got there,they greeted me all smiley faces and bubbly what was surprising.. then they did a consultation with me and took their time to find out exactly what I wanted to have done and the shampoo was so invigorating and so relaxing the ambience was really relaxing they had nice music playing and then in the dryer area I was able to watch TV they cater to my needs. I felt good because it was a one on one service I will definitely go back to this place I like friendly atmosphere professional service and the customer service was outstanding the receptionist was so pleasant too. I had to leave a great tip for my stylist. I can see why the owner only been in Atlanta for short time and have all these salons she really know her work and it's about time somebody brought a big change to the hair industry....

PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!! They are not worth the money and time.



I had very high hopes for the place. A lot of beautiful sistas with beautiful locs. Unfortunately they let me down. The most experienced stylist was the laziest. Ms. Jackie McHugh who comes off very knowledgeable about hair but do not let that fool you. Though she showed knowledge she doesn't feel like putting the work in that she know is necessary and even when asked she makes excuses for why she did not do it properly.



Before I begin to vent let's go step by step. I came to Locs For Life for a retwist and a full hair dye. I've never had my full hair dyed before and I have been growing my locs for 17 years strong now. So I was extremely nervous and hoping they would hold up to my high expectations. They have two locations 10 minutes apart from each other. Why? I do not know.



I get to the location off of Flat Shoals to be greeted by Ms. Jackie McHugh and she actually rushed me off to meet her at the Candler Road location. Finally she's ready. I show her a picture of the color I am looking for and how I want my hair dyed.



The process finally begins



1.THE DYE- For those who are unfamiliar with the hair dying process I’ll explain. I WANTED my hair to be dyed different shades of red ( from dark red to having a few brighter red locs scattered to give it some flare). In order to achieve this look with my thick black hair you must first dye the hair blonde in order for the red to take. My hair ended up being different variety of shades of dark red, blonde , brown, and bright red. NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR. So I went back and had them correct it. The lovely Ms. Jannah Freeman did the best she could with what she was working with. Unlike Ms. Jackie who denied that there is any different color shades, it is what I asked for, or I was trying to get more dye for free Ms. Jannah saw the color shade variety and tried to make the customer happy and fix it. Unfortunately she did not succeed the damage was done she got all that should could. Though I liked how Ms. Jannah handle the situation still isn’t enough to return to this shop. They were all trained by Ms. Jackie.



2.WASHING- When dying your hair they say it is easier for color to take to unwashed hair. So the washing process was after the hair dye. They do an awful job of washing. They ONLY wash the scalp. What they say is the water runs through and cleans the rest. No ma’am! If I truly went by that logic you know how heavy or funky my hair would be! Only reason for staying was in hopes of having experienced people to dye my hair. FAIL!



3.RETWIST-Only thing I can say they did right.



Now why am I writing this review for a place I have no intentions on ever going back to. Because now that some time has passed I’ve been washing my hair THE RED DYE IS COMING OUT. My hair is turning blonde. I did not ask for a wash out I wanted permanent hair dye. I hate the look of my hair. Two months later and where my hair was once red is now blonde. Did I mention that I’ve been growing my locs for 17 years and has been my pride and joy. Now I have to pay to someone to fix it and constantly dying your hair weakens it in my opinion but thanks to Locs For Life I will have to put my hair through that AGAIN.



This review is to stop anyone who loves their locs and want them to remain beautiful. DO NOT GO HERE! I guarantee you will find better keep looking.
