Macular Degeneration
There may be no symptoms at all during the earliest stages of macular degeneration. Blurry vision is usually the first symptom patients note – beginning at the center of your field of vision, where you typically see fine details the best. Your peripheral vision is not affected by this disease.

General Surgery
Dr. Eric Gechter is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma and his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. He completed separate residency trainings in general surgery and ophthalmology at Kings County Hospital Center / SUNY in Brooklyn, New York, in 1979 and 1982, respectively.
