Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
The Orthopaedic Center 's Hand Surgeons provide diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of hand and wrist problems including trauma, occupational injuries, arthritis, neuropathies such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, cysts, and congenital problems. From tennis elbow to tendon repair, our physicians’ primary goal is to return patients to maximal function as quickly as possible.

She did two years of General Surgery residency at Georgetown University and completed Orthopaedic residency at George Washington University and a Pediatric Orthopaedic fellowship at Childrens’ Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, DC.
Orthopedics
Jason is a Physical Therapist who has worked in outpatient orthopedics his entire career. He was born in Silver Spring, MD and received his BS in Kinesiology at UMD, College Park. Prior to starting grad school, Jason spent four years in sales. He sold educational products door to door, where he experienced living in 13 different cities throughout the Midwest. Jason then went on to Boston, where he attended and later graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Simmons College. While in Boston, he also volunteered his time at the Spaulding Rehab with their adaptive sports program. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, obstacle course racing, Crossfit, traveling the globe with his wife, and playing referee between his daughter and dog.

Among his interests are workplace ergonomics. He has developed a system for workplace evaluation and a non-operative method for treating Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Dr. Rozmaryn is currently developing new methodologies for the study of motor strength in the hand that may lead to significant changes in standard diagnostic methodology and has secured a patent for his inventions in this area. He has also developed innovative techniques in micro-arthroscopy in the study of small joints of the hand. Dr. Rozmaryn is currently the Chief of Orthopaedics at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
In the past, a patient could typically expect to stay anywhere from 3–7 days, followed by six weeks or more of difficult therapy before returning to normal activities. With minimally-invasive surgery, some surgeons are finding that patients can be discharged in as few as one to two days, with significantly faster return to normal activities and less post-operative pain.

Bunion Surgery
We are pleased to welcome Dr. David Engorn to The Orthopedic Center and back to the area as he returns from a one year sports and reconstructive surgical fellowship in Las Vegas, Nevada. During his fellowship he participated as a team physician for the Las Vegas Raiders (NFL), Golden Knights (NHL), UFC fighters and Cirque de Soleil performers. He was also exposed to high volumes of minimally invasive bunion surgery and and ankle related sports injuries.

Dr. Leo Rozmaryn, M.D. specializes in reconstructive surgery of the hand and microvascular surgery at The Orthopaedic Center division in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Rozmaryn has developed a keen interest in performing arts medicine; he is an elected member of the Performing Arts Medical Association and been selected as a member of Maryland State Committee for Medicine and the Performing Arts. Since 1990, Dr. Rozmaryn has served on the Advisory Board of the Music Medicine Clearing House. Dr. Rozmaryn enjoys teaching and has lectured both at regional and national meetings.

Karen Forester is a board certified Occupational Therapist, a Certified Hand Therapist and an active member of the American Society of Hand Therapists. She graduated with honors from Boston University with a degree in Occupational Therapy. While simultaneously studying French at BU, Karen had the opportunity to do an OT internship in Paris for a semester. Karen has been specializing in hand and upper quadrant rehabilitation for over 15 years. Before joining Shady Grove Center for Sports Medicine, Karen worked at the University of Virginia outpatient hand center treating high level upper extremity trauma cases. She has worked closely with hand surgeons in orthopedic as well as plastic surgery divisions. She is highly experienced in treating a wide range of upper quadrant injuries and has a special interest in evaluating and treating trauma including burns, tendon and nerve lacerations, tendon transfers, amputations, replantations and complex fractures. When not at work, Karen enjoys art, being a Francophile and traveling with her family.

Physical Therapy
Samuel graduated in 2007 with his BS from the University of Maryland, College Park. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of Maryland, Eastern Shore in 2013. Samuel was born and raised in Rockville, MD and loves being back in his hometown. He enjoys working with all age groups and treating a wide variety of orthopedic injuries. What Samuel loves most about his job is getting to know his patients well and to tailor treatments to get them back to the activities or functions they enjoy the most. When Samuel is not in the clinic, he is spending time with his wife and sons, and supporting the Terps.
Occupational Therapy
Courtney is a board-certified Occupational Therapist and member of the American Society of Hand Therapists. She was born and raised in southeastern Pennsylvania. Courtney graduated with honors from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Exercise Science and Psychology. She continued her education by earning her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Salus University. Courtney has a passion for treating the hand and upper extremity with plans to become a Certified Hand Therapist. During her free time, Courtney enjoys trying new restaurants, going on long walks with her dog, playing board games, and tennis.
Tennis Elbow
The Orthopaedic Center Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons are fellowship-trained in upper extremity surgery and focus on injuries to the shoulder, arm and elbow. They practice expert arthroscopic treatment of both shoulder and elbow injuries as well as arthroplasty for degenerative conditions. Their expertise ranges from treatment of routine fractures and tennis elbow to rotator cuff reconstruction and repair, reverse total shoulder replacement and more.

Manual Therapy
The purpose of physical therapy is to help each patient restore their maximal level of independence. Physical therapy helps you move better, relieves pain, and speeds your recovery after surgeries. Physical therapy comprises of various treatment options such as heat, ice, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and hands-on techniques such as manipulation, massage, and exercise programs. Interventions in physical therapy may include therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual therapy techniques, assistive and adaptive devices, equipment, physical agents, and electrotherapeutic modalities.
