General Info
To provide animal regulation and care services which protect the health, public safety and welfare of people and animals in Milwaukee County. MADACC currently rescues and assures safe, temporary shelter, veterinary and humane care for nearly 13, 000 stray, unwanted, abandoned, mistreated and injured animals each year more than any other animal control shelter in Wisconsin. MADACC provides a central location for owners to find and recover their lost pets at 3839 W. Burnham St. in West Milwaukee and is open seven days a week, including evening hours on weekdays. MADACC rescues strays and removes dangerous animals from public areas providing effective animal control services by active enforcement of Wisconsin State Statues pertaining to animal welfare. MADACC is an organization charged with the responsibility of rescuing thousands of lost and homeless animals and animals suffering from cruelty, neglect and indifference. Animal Care and Control facilities are often referred to derogatorily as the pound. They are often one of the most misunderstood organizations in any community. Although their mission is to save lives, their community's irresponsible pet ownership requires them to euthanize animals, and then they are faulted for doing so. These organizations don't have the luxury of shrinking from the life and death issues of animal welfare. They are the only animal welfare agency in any community that has to address the issue of pet euthanasia head on every minute of every day.

. Not happy with overhearing the conversation should not mention a runny eye issue to the dogs new adopter to keep a watch on it, not sure the reason but it made me sad. I do like that they offer low cost spay and neuter options.

Madacc is a system that is EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE in animal care and control. People that give these negative biased opinions should get their facts straight and do the research as to how and WHY this?organization works the way it does. People of our community need to come together and help the cause! Start with NOT BREEDING YOUR ANIMAL AS A MEANS OF INCOME! GET YOUR ANIMAL SPAYED OR NEUTERED!! MAKE SURE YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF YOUR PET IF YOU DECIDE TO GET AN ANIMAL! DO YOUR HOMEWORK?ON HOW TO CARE FOR AND PREVENT MISHAPS WITH YOUR PET!! And please don't be prejudice to the resources available that help our community.

I recently lost my 2 year old cat due to madacc euthanizing him. I was not aware of this place until day 8 and when I finally found him he was already gone. They don't give the animals a chance. They killed my poor cat right after the 7 day holding period. Please do your research before you ever come to this place. I wish I would have known about it earlier so I could have saved my cat. They kill so many adult cats and our tax dollars are funding it. He was a very sweet, loving cat and now he will never come home again because madacc ended his life along with many other lives that they have taken. Please look up how many animals they take in and how many of them are euthanized, there is no way it is used as a last resort. The result is horrible.

Madacc deals with animals to t...

Madacc deals with animals to the best of its abilities. It has a 7 day holding period for strays and then they are evaluated for temperment (that is one of the longest holding periods in the COUNTRY). That is when they decide to whether put the dog down because it is unadoptable or to hold it. If deemed adoptable, the humane society can recieve dogs from there or they are held in MADACC. They have a facebook page with dogs up for adoption and fostering. This info can also be accessed at Petharbor.com I feel that MADACC does its best with what little resources it has. It isn't as friendly as WHS but that is because of lack of funding and the sheer amount of animals they have taken in. MADACC also offers reduced price vaccinations, microchipping and spay/neutering. Overall, this is where people should be getting their animals from. We just adopted a lab/pit mix from MADACC and things have been great! :)

SAD PLACE, NOT MADACC FAULT

I went there looking for my missing cat, everyone there was very sympethic and helpful. They are doing an amazing job with the enourmous amounts of animals they have. I personally saw cats in small cages, and a room full of sick ones. I don't think we can blame Madacc for this, this is because we have an overpopulation of unwanted animals. If I ever had to surrender one of mine I would not take them there because of the 7 day limit, no animal should die because they are homeless, but Madacc does work with other organizations to adopt them out. Also, Madacc is trying to prevent pet overpopulation by offering low cost spay and neutering services. I don't think it is easy for the employees to have to euthianize animals that they too have become attached to. I honestly feel they are doing the best job they can under such heart breaking circumstances. I think we need more responsible pet owners that get their animals fixed, then less would end up at Madacc where difficult decisions need to be made.

Absolutely great!

Last fall, I adopted my cat, and had already made an appointment for her to be spayed.

The same day, we found out she was pregnant. Cindy was very understanding, offered me options,

and after all was said and done, my cat had kittens. My cat was spayed recently, and everything went extremely well.

I have to say, this was exceptional service.

About 5 yrs. ago, I wouldn't have said this, but there is now a different administrator and I would

refer pet owners to them.

I have another appointment for a spay and I have total confidence in their services.
