Ophthalmology
Dr. Sullivan is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and and served on the executive board of the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology (OAO) from 2010 to 2021. He has authored numerous publications in peer-review journals and has delivered a variety of educational lectures.

General Surgery
Dr. Scot Sullivan has been in full-time practice as an oculofacial plastic surgeon since 2001. He received his medical degree with special distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and finished near the top of his class earning him membership in the exclusive Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. Following his General Surgery internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Oklahoma where he was awarded the Dr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Acers Resident Honor Award for Scientific Achievement.
Reconstructive Surgery
He concluded his academic training at the Casey Eye Institute at OHSU where he was recognized with the top research award among all graduating fellows nationwide by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). He served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Oklahoma ophthalmology program residency for 5 years before returning to Portland to establish Portland Oculoplastics.

During the emergence of widespread use of Botox in medical practice, he was invited to author the inaugural on-line course by the American Academy of Ophthalmology titled “The Use of Botulinum Toxin (BTX) in Ophthalmic Practice” which he co-authored with his mentor Dr. Roger Dailey in 2003.

Oculoplastic surgery combines the precision and microsurgical techniques of ophthalmology with the aesthetic and reconstructive concepts of plastic surgery. In addition to blepharoplasty, ptosis repair and cosmetic eyelid surgery, below are some of the other procedures we commonly perform at Portland Oculoplastics.
Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is a highly effective surgery in restoring normal vision by removing the excess eyelid skin and fat that can cause a patient to feel “heaviness” and fatigue with their overall visual experience. A blepharoplasty can dramatically improve one’s peripheral vision and reverse the effect of these changes associated with aging.
Laser Resurfacing

Skin Cancer
The eyelid is a common location for skin cancer that usually results from a long history of sun exposure. Although it can often be diagnosed from its appearance, a biopsy a usually required to confirm the diagnosis. Treatment of eyelid skin cancer is best performed as a team effort where a Mohs surgeon removes the skin cancer and Dr. Sullivan repairs the resulting defect. Dr. Sullivan has an excellent working relationship with the Mohs surgeons in the Portland area, and same-day coordination can usually be arranged for the complete treatment course.
