This man is evil. How he has stayed in business is beyond me. On a $5000.00 deal he was going to give me 5% off. I refused it and he told me to leave because now he had to put all the coins back. Idiot, had you given me the usual 10% off, I'd have done a deal with you. I saw him throw a Latin American gentleman that was just there browsing on his lunch break. That isn't old school that is a pitiful old man that hates people that do not look like him. I hope he loses everything just the day he plans to retire! Rat!!

RULES FOR SURVIVING RUFER'S. As a person that was kicked please take my advice... 1) Tell him what you want. (Coin, bullion or Round) 2) Tell him what you want. (gold, silver or copper) 3) Tell him what you want. (USA, Mexico or Canada) 4) Give him cash. (Doesn't take credit cards) 5) If you can't make up your mind it's best to LEAVE QUICKLY. BTW, Rufer's has a nice inventory. Play by these rules and you will do fine.

This shop is the best coin shop in San Antonio. It has the best selection of world and domestic coins. The shop is clean, organized, well lit, and comes with amazing service. This shop provides a welcoming and educational experience for any level of collector. This shop has everything from coins to currency, books to supplies, and a wonderful owner with an amazing knowledge of the coin world. Definitely the place to shop for the coin collector in your life.

Old school, cash only, no nonsense business. Yeah these guys are old school, but they have great deals! I was very happy with the prices. I would recommend these guys any day of the week. Just don't go in expecting to chit chat or window shop. Best deals in town and quick service.

This place is better than the first two reviews. I go to this place a lot and get really good business. I have been in there when he has kicked people out of the store because they are idiots and I don't blame him for kicking them out. So don't worry about the other reviews go there and find out your self and I'm sure you will like it. Unless you are a idiot.

DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE! STAY ...

DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE! STAY AWAY! Yesterday, I used my GPS to get to Harry's Coin Dealer on Bandera Road after reading excellent reviews. I did not know that Rufer's was just down the street on the same side. Being new to the area, I saw a sign that read rare coins and went in. There was only one customer in the store. The owner asked me if I needed help and quickly looked through my coins. He was so rude and pushed aside my gold jewelry abruptly telling me that he did not buy jewelry. He didn't look at me but continued to tell me how much he paid for certain items and would push aside items he said were worthless or not what he would buy. I then asked if he had a website. He said no. Then I mentioned that I thought I was going to a place that would explain the coin buying process and would give me good service. He then looked shocked, stopped and said "What are you saying?" I then said that he wasn't being very nice to me. He then yelled "You know what lady, I don't want your business" and pushed my things away. He then yelled in a higher voice "As a matter of fact you can go elsewhere and don't let the door hit you on the way out." He then said "Oh, the place you want is up the street and they will rip you off!" I quickly gathered my things, didn't say a word and left.

I went to Harry's up the street and got excellent service, explanations, time and good prices. Other customers overheard me talking and said that they knew I had been in Rufer's and that is the way he treats people. Terrible customer service! I can't believe he kicked me out of his store.

DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!!!

BUYERS BEWARE!!!! Owner is very rude and kicked us out for being in his shop for alittle over 5 mins. I am a coin collector with some knowledge in that field, so when I did question him on coins I was interested in, he was short and rude and after the 2nd question, he told me to get out of his shop. DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!.

STAY AWAY!!!! The owner is nuts! I went in and touched a coin that was on the counter. The guy freaked out and was very rude. There was even a family in there with a child and he was rude to them as well. I buy coins gold and silver all over the city. This was my first and last visit to this place. Do yourself a favor, do not go to Rufers.
