I have been a loyal customer of this business for 5 years and have never had a bad experience . I really appreciate that the products are all natural and organic and chemicals are not used unless requested by the customer . The salon is a family friendly business and customers feel special and well taken care of on every visit.

Love my blowout!! My hair is natural but well maintained and easy to comb so I had none of the "relaxer" issues some have mentioned. I even got some great tips on how to protect my hair from chemicals while swimming. They have earned my business!

The stylist put relaxer in my 7 and 10year old daughters hair. We are black and my children love their naturally kinky hair. They wanted their hair straightened and I specifically asked them not to put chemicals in their hair. It has been 2 months and my daughters' hair has not returned to their natural texture and it is beginning to break off. If you don't want relaxer in your hair, find another salon. And they're very expensive and rude to black customers.

DO NOT GO HERE! I was a loyal customer of Sky Dominican for 2 years. Having just moved to Waldorf in 2012 I had been looking for a salon and went here after reading great reviews. Since then, the service has steadily declined.



To start, the salon is "supposed" to open at 10:00 on any operating day but if you get there at 9:55 there will be customers waiting (the amount has declined over time due to bad service) and you will find yourself waiting there until close to 11:00 or sometimes later. Loyal customers can call the owner (Yesi) directly and she always blames the traffic... always. She lives in Silver Spring.



When she finally does arrive its left up to the customers to remember the order of arrival to get service. So you may find yourself waiting an additional 45 minutes to an hour before you even get washed.



My last visit is what has made me leave this review. I arrived and waited as usual. Yesi wasn't there, instead her mom and the other woman who works with her (maybe her sister, sorry I don't know her name) came at 11:30. They arrived with no sense of urgency as if we weren't waiting there, absolutely no courtesy to our time. I got washed, that part is always fine; however I told them that my time was short (being I had waited an additional 2 hours more than planned) and that I would need to be hand blow dried rather than set.



I asked when Yesi would arrive and was told she would NOT be in today. It was a SUNDAY -- she is always there on SUNDAY. Furthermore, this other woman has seen me in there a hundred times at not once had I ever allowed her to touch my head. I only went to Yesi. Of course I have a wet head so this time I had no choice.



She used too much heat and my hair is severely damaged. I have long hair past my shoulders and after this last visit it was shedding non stop for two weeks every time I wrapped it. It has finally stopped shedding as much but I will require a serious trip from all the split ends.



So in all, I waited 3 hours past the time of arrival/supposed opening, got blow dried and styled by someone OTHER than the stylist, my hair is damaged and the stylist/owner NEVER showed up!!!



I will never go here again. If Yesi doesn't care about her own business, her livelihood the how could she possibly care about the care of your hair? It's just a buck to her. AVOID.

AVOID IF YOU ARE NATURAL. The last few times I went there I noticed the same thing was going on as another person had commented on this page. The mother of the owner who usually does the shampoos put relaxer in my hair while she was washing/conditioning it just to make it easier to comb through. They're lucky I didn't sue them.....

IF YOU ARE NATURAL DO NOT GO THERE!! I went there and they put perm in my deep conditioner. I have been natural for 2 years. I went there in June 2013 to get my hair done for my wedding. I noticed that once I washed my hair again my hair was limp and lifeless! Now in December the top of my hair is breaking off and I have two completely different textures on my ends. My new growth is curly and wavy and my ends are limp and straight! I'm so mad especially since maintaining natural hair is expensive and time consuming! All that work for nothing cause the shampoo lady was too LAZY to comb thru my hair. I brought my own shampoo and conditioner in and when she wet my hair her daugher (the owner) and her went off whispering looking at me. Then the lady went in the back and came back to finish. I noticed that the shampoo smelled different. I didn't say anything. Then I noticed when she combed thru my hair to detangle it, it was too easy to get thru my hair and usually it takes her a few minutes. BEWARE!! They have no consideration for natural hair women because in their country unstraightened hair is not acceptable. So why would they have consideration for your hair that you worked so hard to maintain! The reason I stopped getting perms in the first place is so that my hair would stop being so damaged! Now I have to start from scratch! And I used to tip them TOO well. CROOKS and THIEVES!!! Do not go there if you are natural. #Madand Hurt

I have been a customer here for many. From when they first opened. I found sky dominican salon looking for an alternative to using perms for my oldest daughter who at the time was in high school now in college. Her hair was so badly damaged and falling out from perms and over processing. I wish I could post the difference coming here has made with myself and my youngest daughter as well. Our hair is so healthy and all natural people often think we are wearing weave or a wigs. As for the 1 star rating. I have never encountered one rude person in this salon. It is a friendly family atmosphere. I would not be a loyal customer if otherwise. "MAMA" washes my hair and we get the organic conditioner and "Jesse" blows our hair. The other staff is good but I'm sorta funny about too many people doing our hair. I have heard so many negative comments about dominican salons but I have had nothing but excellent results here. All salons are not created equal. So do you homework. Yes the dryers are hot. But so are perms and hot irons. They do stay busy because they do walk in. I know they do appointments on Tuesdays and they open like 9 on Saturday. So i try to be the first at the door when they open. And yes people do line up before the doors open for business. So they must be doing something right. Our hair is growing like crazy and its all natural. Is it for everyone? Of course not there's no size fits all hair care. But it made a difference with my hair my girls and everyone I have recommended them too. I love them they are the absolute best in dominican hair care.

Staff has always been very nice. Never waited long and always love the results!

I've been there twice and have never had a bad experience..the staff is always welcoming and friendly and very attentive to your needs..I've been to other dominican salons and the service was nothing compared to the service i received here..

Don't go there . The people that work there are rude .I walk in the salon at 12:20pm by 1:30pm my hair was not shampoo. Now to me, that is unacceptable . Many of you know if you go to a lot of Dominicans salon that as soon as you arrived about 5-10 mins later you are at the shampoo bowl. Not here you have to wait until they are finish eating or talking not doing anything to shampoo you. I will never come back here. Remember the first impression is always the last. Enjoy !

The place very nice inside. The staff was very polite and attending. My hair turned out AWESOME. I will be coming back and sending people there I was extemely happy.
