This was an older hotel without some of the more modern conveniences but we were looking more for atmosphere and location so it was what we wanted and the price was right. It was great to get an early start without so many people.

For me it was all about location. I needed a place that was close to all the site seeing attractions. Hotel Harrington was perfect for that. Walking distance to the white house, Washington monument and Lincoln memorial. Had a hop on Hop off service right outside the hotel. The restaurants downstairs are also super convenient. The hotel is 100+ years old and reflects in the look of the rooms and reception. But that's hardly an issue when all you need is a place to crash and get ready.

By far the biggest selling point of Hotel Harrington is that of it's location. It is as central as you will get within walking distance of all the main sites. As for the hotel itself, although pretty outdated, it is essentially all you need during a busy city break to DC, the beds are comfy, the wifi works and everything is of good quality. Also, the staff are very helpful. Breakfastwise, there is a good selection, but I won't be trying the chipped beef anytime soon!

I loved staying at this old hotel! It's over 100 years old, such history and character!! If you stay here, don't miss meandering down the hall to the left of the reservations desk where significant historic events are recorded on the wall detailing from the time the hotel opened through to the present. There's also nifty little display case in this hall with a few artifacts dating from back in the heyday when the hotel first opened. My room on the 9th floor facing 11th street was quiet, except for the occasional sirens when emergency vehicles passed in the street below. The room was clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, there was a coffee pot and instant coffee, and a handy little refrigerator. Free Wifi worked just fine, very reasonable speed. Best of all are the staff! The folks at the front desk were always very welcoming and helpful, from finding out where to go to catch a bus heading toward the museums, to... well pretty much answering any question I had. The cleaning staff were also very personable and cheerful, loved chatting with them! If you're looking for a hotsy totsy premium hotel, this won't meet your expectations, but for me it was just right; a great price and a great location close to the Smithsonian museums and the mall, and not far from a couple of nifty brewhouses. There's a metro stop within a couple of blocks and buses stop at the corner. I stayed 4 nights and you can safely bet that I'll be staying here again anytime I venture back to D.C.!

Room sizes vary in our group. Some very small, some very large, some in between. Very basic accomodation but very clean & convenient location. Walking distance to White House and museums. Serviced daily.

I can't describe it is an above-average hotel and yet I really recommend it and will stay again. It may seem contradictory, but let me explain. Everything is just slightly worn and dated, woodwork is over-overpainted, a little paint on some shower tiles was peeled off, and a lot of tour-bus travelers seem to stay here, so there is some hall rowdiness. Sound sketchy? It's absolutely not. Facilities were perfectly adequate and clean, and location is great - in between the White House, Metro Center, the FBI building, and Pennsylvania Avenue. Nearby parking in a commercial garage is at a rate that is better than the garage's standard rate and with an until-4pm grace period. The front-desk staff were helpful, wifi is included, and my room rate was $139 -- a very good rate for Washington. It isn't luxurious or gleaming, and there's no fancy or expansive lobby, but again, if it suits your needs and expectations, I recommend it highly.

Love.love.love this place and people, they made you feel like family and went over and above during our stay even through the security was tight for the Presidential inauguration. Very clean, beds comfortable , the history of the place is the true gem in Washington DC. Will stay again.

There is no better location and this Historic Hotel has an outstanding staff and reasonable prices. We arrived for a week stay in DC and they could not have been more accommodating. We had an 11th floor room nice view, very clean it is over 100 years old and does not really look it age the historic time line really is interesting if you think about the history the hotel has been through. Keep in mind this is an old building and has a central a/c so we did call the desk to have the vents adjusted so the room was cooler, they were there instantly, and when I asked for another blanket it was there right away (yes I know, better cold than hot) Everyone was so helpful & accommodating we had a great time an would stay there again. It was very comfortable

It's a historic building,so rooms reflect that architecture, however, it is clean and in one of the best locations in DC. The staff is very attentive. Discounted parking 1 block away. Great hangout restaurant and bar on the streetside.

Knowing our time in DC was limited we booked the Hotel Harrington purely based on location and for this reason, it didn't disappoint. We walked to all the main tourist spots from here and it's even close to a train line for easy access to outer areas.

I stayed at the Hotel Harrington for 5 nights in October while at a conference at the JW Marriott. I could get back to my room in almost the same time that guests of the very expensive Marriott waited for elevators.
The room was small without a view, but very clean and the firm mattress felt new. Also because the bedcovers were fabric not bubble wrap plastic i was comfortable.
The gift shop sells postcards, the front desk stamps and there is a postbox.
I would stay there again. It is well connected to the Metro and sites; the Hop on and off bus stops at the door.

We stayed here for a bit of sight seeing and a ball game. Older hotel, character, friendly staff, I love some of the charming adventures of life. Hall ways are long and reminded me of old movies, I like the charm. Our room was spacious enough, our friends wanted as close to the ground, theirs was smaller. Yes I would go again!

This was our second stay at the Hotel, and we enjoy its old funky vibe. No, it isn't one of the luxury hotels nearby, but it is the oldest continually running hotel in D.C. And is still owned by descendants of the original owners. We love that it is close to the National Mall and that the price allows us to spend more doing things. We will stay here again.

As everyone will tell you, this is an old hotel that has not been modernized in ages. But ti is clean and serviceable, and the price can't be beat for DC. I mainly went because it accepted dogs.

Service was very good--there was a blockage in the bath, they were up very fast and fixed it immediately.

I had to ask for a refrigerator but they brought one. It worked well, though it did make noise. Not too bad though, put you to sleep!

Booked three nights at the Hotel Harrington, in downtown DC, and thrilled with the location. The hotel is 104 years old, and shows signs of its age. However the chipped paint, dents in the skirting boards and aged elevators are part of the fabric of this hotel, and it's history. Our room was clean and tidy, and thrilled to get a hot water jug (vs a coffee maker) included. The front desk team are really helpful, and can provide a comprehensive list of local eateries. Price is good, considering the location and the near-by competition.
